Musical and critical activity on the pages of the newspaper "Krasnaya Bashkiria" in 1948

Abstract

The purpose of the paper is to study the development of music journalism and criticism in a regional aspect, namely in Bashkiria, specifically in Ufa in 1948, using the example of the official main print publication "Krasnaya Bashkiria". In the middle of the 20th century, the newspaper "Krasnaya Bashkiria" was the main official print publication of the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. Its pages covered a wide range of topics, including various cultural events in Ufa and other cities of the republic. In addition, like many newspapers of the Soviet Union, it paid due attention to political issues concerning the country as a whole. Thus, this publication did not ignore the anti-formalist campaign of 1948, which was directly related to the Resolution of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the CPSU(b) "On the opera The Great Friendship by V. Muradeli", published in the newspaper Pravda on February 10, 1948. Of course, this historical document has had a significant impact on the nature of the published music-critical materials, namely their subject matter, appeal to certain genres, authorship, style and even quantity. This article is devoted to the study of this problem on the example of one of the printed publications of Bashkiria. Priority in the analysis is given to the study and evaluation of archival documents of the Union of Composers of the Bashkir ASSR, as well as texts of music-critical materials published in the newspaper Krasnaya Bashkiria in 1948.
